Heroic Failure

I don't want to be your hero
I canot be a superman
I only wish to be mortal
I no longer want you as a fan.

I make mistakes, as do you
I am no where near perfect
Why do you look up to me so?
Can't you see I'm a defect?

Heroes exist in comic book worlds
Where problems are solved by conflict.
The real world far differs from that
We are all judged on merit.

Please let me be normal.
Let me make a mistake
Allow me the chance to be human
And resist your urge to berate.

She wanted only peace
Her daddy beat her
As he often did
When he was done
She run and she hid.
In the darkest depth
In her closet like room
She sat and she rocked
While humming a tune.
Hoping that some day
She might leave this place
And slap her father
Right across his face .
But the time was not right
Merely 12 years old
For only at 18
Would she grow and turn bold.
He continued to beat her
Within an inch of her life
His method of training her
To make a good wife.
The sexual abuse
Started around then
Forcing fellatio
Every now and again.

It was the darkest night
She had seen this year
Right after her fathers abuse
A man, out of no where
Appeared in her bedroom
With courage he knew she could use.

“My dear Gloria”, he said
In the softest of tones
And a sparkle in his eye
“You are stronger than this
More powerful than He
We can destroy him, you and I”

She knew not this man
Yet trusted him wholly
She would do and he told her.
She invited him in
This man of the night
Who started then to test her temper.

By reminding her of
All the things he did
This man she loved as her dad.
Her emotions swelled
To the point of explosion
Vengeance was now to be had.

He father walked in
And saw his daughter
Burning with a fiery rage
He turned to run out
But it was too late
Trapped like a rat in a cage.

The man of the night
Had closed fast the door
Trapping her father within
The room where he committed
All of his crimes
Fitting he would die herein.

By the hands of his girl
Who, with sheer anger
Tore him limb from limb
The night man just smiled
His journey complete
Seeing this young girl win.

Covered in blood
She began to weep
She lay on her daddy
And slipped into sleep
The night man tossed
A ring on the floor
Then left the house
Seen again, nevermore.

Sly but not shy
A new day brings the morning curse
I shield my eyes from the early rays
Cupping my forehead, rubbing my face
Last nights events are but a haze.

The booze flowed freely into my body
Like water in a river grand
Friends all around me, no one could harm me
I didn’t know what was at hand.

The bar grew quiet; all noise had stopped
Then entered a single man
He light up a cig, blew out some smoke
His skin colour was a dark tan.

His one gold hoop, hooked in his ear
Sparkled in the light from the stage
A thick black mustache and graying sideburns
Gave me a clue to his age.

“Georgio” he said with a fading smile
“It is I you must now follow.
You’ve slept with my daughter. You must be punished
Our laws overrule those you know.”

Standing up tall, I lifted my hand
“I am going nowhere with you”
He then touched my hand with the palm of his
Everything fast faded from view.

A healthy green forest in the dead of night
Surrounding a large gleaming glade
Speckled with caravans of all shapes and colours
Almost like a gypsy arcade.

“What do you want? I’ve done nothing wrong!
I’ve slept with no woman in a year!”
He watched as I spoke, others gathered around
For my life I soon started to fear.

Without a word he held up a knife
And plunged it deep into my chest
My eyes opened wide as I took my last breath
And fell to my place of final rest.

Still alive yet unable to move
They dressed me in their native clothes
Put on some rings, pierced my right ear
Filled my mouth with cloves.

Then a feast began, or maybe a dance?
All was a mix of blue yellow and red
I soon grew weary and closed my eyes
Assured I would soon be dead.

I awoke in my home, all alone
No scar marking my chest
No tall trees, no special glade
I feel the need for more rest.

Turning on my side, away from the sun
I feel a sting in my ear.
I reach up to feel what could be the cause
I find the answer quite queer.

A single golden hoop, like the old man wore
Had pierced the lobe of my ear
I felt a presence, warm, close and friendly
He and his family would always be near.

Undying love
The pale moonlight shine on my flaxen hair
I wander the world with little to no care.
Winding paths through forests dark
From lake, to river, from glade to park.

I see a small child sitting on a swing.
She waits for someone to give her a shove
She wants to fly high, into the starry sky
As free as a solitary dove.

I walk behind her and look at the youth
Wondering where mine went?
I approach her and ask in hushed tones
"Don't you think you should now repent?"

"For your sin, cast originally, when you were born
Your parents seed, their faith now torn
Don't you see, you're nothing but a sin
Created from the fires that burn within."

I raise my dagger and plunge into her back
Stabbing her over and over again
Her clothes, now soaked in crimson blood
Take me back to another time when

I stabbed my first sinner, the feelings I felt
Like loosening the buckle of a tight fitting belt
For once in my life, I felt truely free
And that my diety felt only love for me.

Slumped in the swing, I give the child her push
The momentum makes her swing for some time.
I wander a new path now, searching for another
Sinner who's sins shall become mine.

"In death find ye love, In love find ye Me.
For I am the beginning and the end.
I love all of you, as my very own child.
An eternity with me ye shall spend."
